                     Shinkendo

Shinkendo is the art of Japanese Swordsmanship.  The name translates into "Real-Sword-Way" which embodies the core concept of the art.  Students are introduced to classical Japanese customs, etiquette, strategy and the Japanese Language to enhance technical and cultural understanding.                                      Aikibujutsu

Aikibujutsu is the classical martial art of the samurai incorporating empty hand techniques as well as other weapon techniques.  Aiki translates into "Meeting/Harmonizing Energy". Learning to fall, roll and the ability to defeat an attacker without causing physical damage are unique aspects of Aikibujutsu.  View a Demo Clip

BoJustu is the art of the long staff.  As a sister art of Aikibujutsu, the long staff is an important study both technically and for improving body coordination.  The long staff as a tool is one of the most useful implements both in combat and in daily life.  Both tactical and civilian uses of the Bo staff are taught as points of interest.  View a Demo Clip

Toyama-Ryu was created in the 20th century to teach military officers to use the Japanese sword.  It is a system that is still practiced today and is taught as a sister art to Shinkendo because of its historical and technical significance.  View a Demo Clip

 

 

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 PM for Shinkendo. There will also be class on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 AM.
